Failed to launch

Jul 10, 2013 at 2:45 AM
Trying to get this to run, all I get is Failed to launch error.

Tried on Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 as well as my Windows 2012 server, nothing works.

I have another manager that does work, so I know the jar file is fine and have configured the server properly. The other manager is not running when trying to start this.

All OS's are 64bit, could this be the issue? I have both 32 bit and 64 bit versions of java installed.

Wish I could provide more, but there doesn't seem to be much error logging or debug info outputted on error, as I reviewed the code and don't see anything obvious.

We are currently in the process of developing a patch. Please see this issue:

Download the exe attached to that issue use that instead. Please let us know if it works. If it does, we will roll out a patch-release.

Thanks very much, sorry for the inconvenience!

Afraid that exe did not solve the issue.

Same issue failed to launch, but I did now notice another issue, in the server settings dialog form, the java "tab" results in a "Settings Invalid!" Error loading settings! pop up and crashes if the reset button is clicked...

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging

For example:

< jitDebugging="true" />

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

This suggests to me that you have insufficient physical RAM free/available - minimum required is 1024MB. I will look into sorting the error relating to resetting RAM this weekend.

Thanks for your feedback! If you can, try downloading & debugging the source code of latest check-in - put a breakpoint on the Launch method in MineCraftServer.cs and check for the values the are passed into the ProcessStartInfo and also what error message is given in the try-catch block. Over the weekend I will be adding better error logging to try and make these issues easier to fix.

Thansk very much!

New version with error detail and RAM settings checks is available on this issue:

Same file name as the old patch but the exe is different - please re-download and see if it works or at least gives you more detail.

Thanks very much, sorry for the inconvenience!

Issue is now believed to be properly fixed. Please re-download V2.3 from the downloads page and it should all work.
